Interplex Medical and Merit Medical Systems
Sign Supply Agreement

Milford, OH. – July 21, 2011 - Interplex Medical, LLC, a globally recognized developer and manufacturer of minimally invasive, complex catheter-based medical devices, today announced the signing of a three-year supply agreement with Merit Medical Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: MMSI).

Merit is internationally recognized as a leader in manufacturing and marketing proprietary disposable devices used primarily in cardiology, radiology and endoscopy. Under the terms of this agreement, Interplex will provide complete, catheter-based stent delivery systems developed within the framework of the company’s Vigilance Program, a multi-disciplined approach that contributes to a reduction in real-time-to-market and an overall improvement in product quality.

Interplex Medical, an ISO 13485, FDA registered company, implemented its Vigilance Program in 2010 to assist OEM customers seeking to speed delivery of innovative medical products while insuring compliance with tightening FDA and CE requirements. This program combines the intelligent implementation of clearly defined development and manufacturing processes with a streamlined approach to surveillance.

“Designing, developing and producing within the constraints of a strict regulatory environment has always been second nature at Interplex Medical,” said Al Hoffmann, Interplex Director of North American Medical Business Development. “With Vigilance, we’ve formalized the process, embracing the need to implement increased internal controls and disciplines to deliver a quality product backed by the comprehensive documentation needed to speed a product through regulatory approval. Our people understand that the critical measurement is the total amount of time it takes to go from product concept to consistent delivery of an approved, high quality product.”

Merit serves client hospitals worldwide with a domestic and international sales force totaling approximately 130 individuals. Merit employs approximately 2,300 people worldwide with facilities in Salt Lake City and South Jordan, Utah; Angleton, Texas; Richmond, Virginia; Maastricht and Venlo, The Netherlands; Paris, France; Galway, Ireland; Beijing, China; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Rockland, Massachusetts. Partnering with Interplex Medical allows Merit Medical Systems to augment their own talented staff and leverage the skills and experience of an expanded engineering and production team, without adding unnecessarily to infrastructure costs.

Interplex Medical is a division of Interplex Industries, Inc. Founded in 1958, Interplex Industries is headquartered in College Point, NY. The company continues to expand its technology and capabilities in the areas of product design and application development services, metal etching, prototyping, tool design and build, precision metal stamping, die casting, precision machining, plating and finishing, insert and injection molding, assembly and full scale automation services around the world. Interplex currently provides its services to the communications, electronics, industrial, medical and automotive markets and has facilities in the United States, Mexico, China, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Korea, Scotland, France, Germany and Hungary.
