Interplex and UMG Technologies Announce Collaboration

College Point, NY – October 21, 2009. Interplex Industries, Inc., a leading global provider of precision components and assemblies, announced today that it is collaborating with UMG Technologies, industry experts in terminal assembly and insertion equipment, to offer customers a comprehensive terminal design and automated assembly solution for unique terminal applications.

Interplex and UMG have extensive experience working together and already have numerous installations of UMG assembly equipment inserting Interplex-designed terminals in the field. Under this collaboration, Interplex and UMG will provide customers the opportunity for a turnkey terminal design and assembly solution delivered to the factory floor. With this approach, Interplex and UMG will co-develop terminal designs that optimize assembly machine performance for customer applications. Customers will continue to have the option to work independently with either company, if they desire to do so.

"We are excited about our working relationship with UMG," said Joe Lynch, Interplex's Director of Advanced Product Engineering. "This collaboration allows Interplex to provide its customers a complete system solution for direct insert applications, especially those applications utilizing our Press-Fit technology. Our customers have verified that UMG is an industry leader and that UMG's assembly equipment offers tremendous value in terms of both high-volume production throughput and low total installed cost."

“Compliant press fit attachment is quickly becoming the chosen technology method over pin in paste in PCB assembly” said Ernie Roberts, President of UMG Technologies. “Our relationship with Interplex is technology driven by our customer needs. The results have produced a line of continuous stamped press-fit interconnects and an insertion delivery system that allows for ease in machine change over on the factory floor.”

Productronica 2009: Munich Germany, November 10th - 13th, Hall A4-Stand 526

UMG Technologies will have their Model Number PLT-902 Dual Head Terminal Inserter system on display at Interplex's booth during the Productronica 2009 International Trade Fair being held in Munich, Germany. The PLT-902 Inserter System will be demonstrating the insertion of two Interplex press-fit terminals - a 0.64mm connector terminal and a 0.80mm dual press-fit stacking terminal – utilizing the new 902 SXT Insertion Head.
